I purchased this to take on all of my camping trips. I am often out for days at a time hiking through the mountains and I've used this a number of times now in various streams or collected rain water. It filters great, the water has always tasted fine and I've never gotten sick!

I frequently hike and camp in the backcountry all over the United States. Carrying the amount of water that I need to survive during these trips is just not feasible due to the weight. I recently took a filter straw out for a test on a backcountry hike in the Rocky Mountains. Every stream, lake, or other water source that I came across I stopped for a drink. I was drinking fresh snow melt and also from lakes that are home to beavers and other wildlife. There was no added taste to the water and I didn't get sick during or after the trip.

Mud hole tested. Son approved. I keep a few of these in the trunk of my car in case we ever get into an emergency and need clean drinking water.

Ordered the water straws in case we would ever lose our city water supply. Will not use them until we just have to.

I would have given it a 5 out of 5 stars but I haven’t fully tested them yet. What I can tell you is tha purchased arrived 1 day before the company said they would , unlike other companies who string you out and keep you waiting for three months for a package due in “2-3 weeks”. So far it works on everything I’ve used it on, but I have used it out in the wilderness. I am confident that it will work there too!
